Ways to get rid of Pigeons
We all love to see birds flying around as they are beautiful to watch. But once they start perching in the areas near our homes and leave their droppings, it becomes bit difficult to manage. When it comes to PIGEONS it is definitely challenging. Pigeons are fairly dirty birds. Besides being extremely messy, they carry a huge risk of diseases and parasites with them. They have the habit of leaving their droppings around. Hence it becomes extremely important to keep a check on these birds.
Sealing your balcony area by putting bird netting can definitely keep these birds away but then you end up compromising on the beauty of the place. So why not try out some natural ways to keep these birds away.
1) One of the best remedies to get rid of pigeons is Pepper. Pigeons don’t like the smell of pepper. You can sprinkle pepper powder generously around the area where pigeons perch regularly or are nesting. Continue this for couple of days. This will help getting rid of pigeons.
2) Another way of keeping pigeons away is lighting incense sticks or perfumed candles in the area where these birds perch. Pigeons hate strong fragrances as they cannot withstand it. One needs to keep using these regularly till the birds stop coming.
3) Splashing cold water on them or pressure washing the pigeon holes scares these birds away.
4) Reflective surfaces also help in keeping pigeons away. Making wind chimes with old CD’s or just hanging them in your balconies can be useful.
5) Honey can also come to your rescue in getting rid of pigeons. You can spread honey at the place where pigeons perch. They dislike the stickiness and avoid the area.
6) Another way is to make a solution of water and Dettol and spray it where the birds perch. Spraying this solution at regular intervals prevents these birds from dwelling.
