Simple and Handy Tips to keep your wardrobe Smelling Fresh

A musty smell in your closet is nothing unusual. The small compact space with no air circulation can always create an unpleasant odor. There can be several reasons for a bad-smelling wardrobe like water leakage in walls/ceilings, mold formation due to moisture getting locked inside, sweaty or dirty clothes, etc.

However, you can get rid of this unpleasant-smelling wardrobe by following these simple tips.

    • Give your closet a thorough cleaning to keep it smelling fresh. Vacuum it to remove any dirt or dust accumulation. If you use soap-water solution or any other cleanser, air out your closet before organizing it.
    • Always ensure that the clothes placed in the cupboard are completely dry.
    • Try placing a few Chalk in a muslin bag in your cupboards/drawers. Chalks are great absorbents and can be extremely helpful in absorbing moisture.
    • Placing Scented Dryer Sheets can help the closet smell fresh. These sheets absorb the pungent smell. Replace the dryer sheet when you can no longer smell it.
    • Cotton balls can come in handy to make your wardrobe smell amazing. Spray your favorite perfume on these cotton balls or add 5-6 drops of essential oil and place them in your cupboard.
    • Baking soda is also a great absorbent that prevents the closet from smelling musty. Add a couple of tsp of banking soda in a bottle with holes in the lid or put it in a bowl and place it in the cupboard.
    • Coffee grounds are also great for neutralizing the musty smell. Place freshly ground coffee in a container and put it in your wardrobe. Change these grounds once you feel they are ineffective.
    • Placing a block of activated charcoal in an open container or pouch can prove helpful as it is a great absorbent. You can put the activated charcoal in the sunlight after a few days and reuse it in your closet.
    • If you are interested in creating your own DIY scented sachet, you can try drying orange/lemon zest in the sunlight or the oven at 180 degrees for 10 minutes. Later place them in a breathable pouch/bag and put it in your closet.
    • If you are looking for ready-to-use options, aromatic wooden hangers are a perfect choice for you. They are not only helpful in organizing your cupboard but also absorb moisture to keep your clothes dry and fresh. Though they are slightly costly, they are an effective and easy way to manage your closet.
