Three tests to find out if the Eggs are boiled perfectly

Eggs are a versatile and nutritious food to add to your diet. Though there are a variety of ways in which you can enjoy this super-food, yet boiled egg is a pretty popular and common way of eating it. Some people like to have a hard-boiled egg. Others prefer a boiled egg with a soft, jammy yolk. Boiled egg is an excellent source of protein, zinc, calcium other important nutrients, and antioxidants.

When you boil eggs, there is always a doubt in the mind whether you have cooked them to perfection or not, especially for people who like to eat hard-boiled eggs. So here are some ways that can help you check whether the eggs are boiled perfectly:

    • Spin Test:

Place the egg on a flat surface and give it a spin. A hard-boiled egg will spin well. However, if it is not solid from the inside, the egg will wobble.

    • Shake Test:

Another way is to hold the egg between the thumb and the finger and shake it gently. If you feel that the egg is solid, it is ready. If not, boil it for a few more minutes.

    • Light Test:

The thin shell of the egg allows the light to pass through if it is raw. Turn on a flashlight and hold it against the side of the egg. If it is uncooked, the yolk will be visible. If it’s cooked fully, the light will not pass through it.

The correct way to boil and peel an Egg:

    • Take the egg out of the refrigerator at least 30 minutes before you plan to boil the egg.
    • Place the egg in the pan and add water. Placing the egg in the pan before filling it with water can help avoid cracks.
    • Add enough water to cover all the eggs. The water should be an inch above the eggs.
    • Add 1 tsp salt or some vinegar to the water. It will help prevent the egg from cracking.
    • Put the pan for heating and bring it to a boil. Cover the pan with a lid. Let the water boil for about 4-5 minutes. Later switch off the gas stove and let the egg rest in the pan for some more time.
    • Once you have finished boiling the eggs, use a spoon to transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice-cold water. Let them cool completely. It will prevent the eggshell from sticking to the egg white.
    • Crack the egg before you start peeling. It will make the peeling process easy.
