Simple tips to remove Sticky Labels from Glass Bottles
Many grocery items that we order come in Glass jars. Our refrigerator is full of jams, condiments, and beverages filled in glass containers. Reusing them is a cost-effective way to give a pleasant look to your kitchen. Honey/jam/wine/liquor bottles can be used for storing homemade pickles or other grocery items as these are transparent and impermeable. They can also be used as planters or creating endearing goodie jars or elegant decorative pieces. There are plenty of spectacular ways to reuse these glass containers.
Usually, we remove the stickers/labels on these bottles to get the perfect look. At times, the paper labels or sticky glue doesn’t come off smoothly, making the entire process tiresome. Trying to remove the label with a rough substance/steel wool might leave scratches on these bottles.
So, here are some quick and easy tricks that can help get rid of these stickers/labels/adhesives.

- Take a bowl of warm water and dip the bottle in it. (Avoid taking hot boiling water as it might crack the bottle or de-shape it if it’s a plastic one). Place it in a manner that the entire bottle gets soaked in water. Now leave it for 15-20 minutes. Try pulling the label. It will come off with no trouble.
- If the label is too sticky, add 1-2 tsp of dish soap and about ½ cup of white vinegar to the bowl of warm water. Soak the jar in it for 20-30 minutes. Try removing the sticker/label now. It will peel off effortlessly. Now, clean the bottle using a soft scrubber to get rid of the glue.
- If you are unable to scrub off the adhesive/glue, mix oil and baking soda and spread it on the glass bottle. Let it rest for 10 minutes and scrub it gently. You will be able to get rid of the glue. Ensure that you wipe the bottle with a tissue or a soft cloth before applying the mix.
